It was an enjoyable read indeed.
I especially love the realism of the story. (duh! It's based on The author's story)
and I really admire the protagonist, for being so courageous, yet not-so courageous. haha.
I like the conflicting nature, so complicated, yet so simple,

昨天在一本書中讀道：＂在戀愛中的男女，總是甜的時間少，苦的時間多。＂

我不這麼認為。
兩個人因為相愛而相戀，帶著互相欣賞，互相包容的感覺在一起，不亦樂乎？
戀愛中的男女，是甜蜜的，是幸福的。
因為每一天都能得到愛與關心，每一天都有一個人分享著。

雖然結束或許會是痛苦的，但苦過後依然能回憶起當時的甜蜜。
苦應該是短暫的，甜蜜的時光卻能永存。
就像吃了苦藥後，再吃一顆糖，便能把口中的苦味消除，不是嗎？

everyone has their own sets of principles, and morals which help them to identify right and wrong, but if people could not share the same set of principles, is it fair for us to use our own sets of rulers to judge others?

sometimes, it is difficult to stand up for your own set of principles, because you know that people don't share the same ideas as you.

is it what makes life difficult?
or does it help you to choose your friends?

perhaps identifying the differences in the set of moral principles each and everyone of us hold would serve as a good comfort to one who failed to uphold his/her principles.

but it is puzzling, how people who are nurtured in the same way or live in the same environment could hold vastly different sets of principles, ideals, and goals.

perhaps, the 'uniqueness' in each of us is what made humans so scary. because we could never fully understand each other, no one could. perhaps not even ourselves.

ahh! i've been so so so busy. or perhaps i'm just tiring myself out unnessarily. i havent been going on msn, watching dramas, watching suju vids, playing games excessively.. etc.

i have been studying a lot lately, but there's still a pile of uncompleted readings. lol. what's wrong? actually, i kinda enjoy the stuff i study, which i prefer to call the process learning =) it's a bless really, to be learning the stuff you do not know and would like to know, though not really a need to. learning is not a necessity, but a choice.

well, i guess it's really nice to spend less time playing, but sadly, also sigficantly less time with my friends. =( i miss scandalous mj sessionSSS~

back from nanjing.
though it was a bit dangerous and scary but it was a good trip nonetheless.

nanjing is a city with rich history and beautiful landscapes. love the lakes, the mountains, the parks etc.

the most unforgettable memory would be my visit to the nanjing massacre museum. i was so over-whelmed by feelings that it was impossible for me to merely convey them through words. i didnt take any photos of the museum as i didnt have the desire to do so, and... yeah i was simply too occupied by what i saw to even take pictures. i kept thinking, if a foreign chinese like me felt so emotional, how about the locals? how would they feel? and how would the japanese feel when they visit the museum? or would they even feel at all..?

a quote in the museum said, "remember the history, not the hatred"

indeed. indeed.

anyway, nanjing is a place where it'll be better to visit with a companion. haha. not a particularly safe place.

next on my travelling list... secret! hahaha. guess the people who visit my blog should know =)

i'm really really unwilling to return and face the reality, but at least, i've experienced paradise. and this is definitely the greatest, happiest, most unforgettable moment of my life thus far. i'd miss the friends i made here, the days i spent here, the school which i've loved and adored.

instead of living in misery and unhappiness, why not just let go of the minute nuisancical thoughts and enjoy the day you're living?

not the kind of cliche drama which ends with a happily ever after.

but it's the message conveyed that truly touched me.

if you're looking for a drama to watch, or feel that your life is a bore, or feel that you'd better be off dead, or feeling simply bored, go watch it.

二月二十日——我离开新加坡前往上海的一天。
原本是带着平静的心情踏上这段旅程的，但完全出乎我意料之外，我的好友们进到机场来为我饯行，让我原本平静的心泛起了丝丝涟漪，也为我这次的旅程添上了难忘的开始。我老说自己在大学里交不到朋友，但我终于领悟了。朋友，知心的就够了。

不知不觉，在上海度过了两天的时间，时光飞逝呀~ 感觉上海和首尔很像，或许是因为这冬天的感觉，和宽阔的道路吧。

昨天精神不太好，逛了逛南京路步行街、也到了外滩去，便回酒店睡了一觉。

今天可累坏了我，到了好多地方，孙中山和宋庆龄故居、复兴公园、淮海中路一带、雁汤美食街等。天气不错，我还可以不戴手套。

上海真是个好地方，感觉交通比新加坡还方便呢！上海人的服务也不错。但我还蛮想到郊外去，那里有古镇，还有野生动物园呢。我想应该会有机会吧 ^^

一、简介
每每上了〈中国哲学史〉这门课后便会感到头很重、很大。因为在课堂上需要进行大量的思考与联想。但无可否认的是，〈中国哲学史〉是我每周最享受、最期待的课。它让我对于人生、对于生活进行反省及思考。虽然脑子里的问题不断涌现，也想快快得到解答，但是，我想这些问题在我人生中的某个阶段会让我有所领悟，因此，现在或许不需要迫切地寻求答案。
二、《老子》
道
‘道’的这一概念，老师在课堂上为我们解释了许久，但我始终无法掌握。对我来说，这一概念既抽象，却又好像很具体。按照我所理解的，‘道’是宇宙万物的本源它是个一概念，所以抽象，但因为我们能看见宇宙的事物，而我们知道有‘道’的‘存在’，所以我才会认为它既抽象又具体。‘道’是无名的，‘道’是不变的。老师也有提到：‘德’则是宇宙中每个个体的个性——人类有属于人类的德，马有属于马的德。原来我所以为的‘道德’与老子所说的‘道德’是有所区别的。
“天下万物生于‘有’，‘有’生于‘无”。所以‘道’其实就是一个‘无’，而‘德’就是所谓的‘有’吧？有‘无’才会有‘有’的可能。宇宙万物的本源是‘无’（道），之后再有了宇宙万物，才会有‘有’（德）。只有当可以做对比的时候才会发现‘有’和‘没有’的差别，也才能真正了解到什么是‘有’，什么是‘没有’。这就像是有痛苦才会有快乐。若只有快乐，你不会知道那是快乐，也不会知道什么是痛苦。像人们常说的“身在福中不知福”，若一个人没有经历过苦难，又怎么会知道自己是幸福的呢？
知足
老师问过，我们会在《老子》那里学到什么，看完了《老子》，我觉得虽然看得懂的、了解的不多，但是有一句话让我反省了不少：“禍莫大於不知足﹔咎莫大於欲得。故知足之足，常足矣。”人最大的灾难就是不懂得感到满足，人最大的错误就是一直要得到什么，所以要知道足够的足够，心里就可以一直感到满足。
虽然‘知足常乐’这道理我们都懂，但未必真能实践。刚为人父母的人就希望生出来的宝宝身体健康就好，孩子上学后就希望孩子能得到优异的成绩，孩子长大了就希望能成家立业。人，是有欲望的，但这不是什么错的事，而是自然的。每个人‘足够’的定义不同，有些人只希望能三餐温饱、有些人则希望能有洋房汽车、有些人希望能带给他人更好的生活。‘足够’的定义虽不同，但重要的是能了解到自己拥有的已经足够而感到满足，而满足于这份满足的心情，这样的人才可以处在满足的状态下。这对我来说是很深刻的道理，我希望自己能‘潜意识’地做到‘知足’，并安于知足的感觉，这才能算真正的知足吧。
我之所以会说‘潜意识’因为我想起了老子所说的‘无为’。记得老师说过这意思就是指一个人其实在做什么，但却好像没有做的样子，也就是浑然天成的。就譬如说，我们不应该觉得做一件事是善的表现而去做，而应该是一种潜意识的行为，这才是真正的善。所以，如果只因为要知足而觉得自己知足，那就不是真正的‘知足’了。
三、《庄子•马蹄》
无知、无欲
“同乎无知，其德不离；同乎无欲，是谓素朴”，人们若同样都没有知识，那人的本性（德）就不会偏离，人若同样都没有贪欲，就能简朴无华。对于《马蹄》篇的作者来说，人们的本性（德）就是“织则衣，耕则食”，人一旦有了知识或许就懂得如何去‘改善’自己的生活而就不会满足于原本的‘德’。想要改善生活就会产生所谓的‘欲’，生活也就不再简朴。
所以，人一旦有了知识便会有欲望，便会想得到更多，‘无知’反而能让人们处于在一个‘知足’的状态。而一旦知足，便不会有欲望，生活也就能朴素。我认为，人们很难处于在一个‘无知’的状态，人一生出来，一定会通过生活而吸取知识，所以《马蹄》篇的作者说的‘无知’究竟是什么呢？
我觉得‘无知’就好象‘无为’的概念一样，有知识却好象没有知识一样，而不是真的没有知识。‘无知’比‘求知’难，我想，只有当一个人拥有大智慧时才能‘无知’，因为他已看透了宇宙万物，也不去执着于万物中的任何东西，所以才能不偏离自己的本性。人一达到了一种‘无知’的境界便能‘无欲’，也便能安于朴素的生活。
“自然vs文化”
在《马蹄》篇中，作者提到伯乐驯服马儿一事“故马之知而态至盗者，伯乐之罪也”，伯乐让马儿知道它们原本不需要知道的东西而违反了它们的本性，使它们的状态引来了到取钱财的人，这都是伯乐的错。若让马儿依照它们的本性生活，就不会有人来掠夺。对于人类来说，驯服马儿是人类文明、文化的表现。但对于马儿来说，这个文明、文化的表现是否就违反了它的自然呢？它本来是自由的，但是被人驯服后，一切就受到了束缚。所以，人类的文化是否是违反了大自然的规律呢？
我觉得，人类的文化是自然的一部分。驯服马儿并不完全是‘违反’了它的自然，而是人们利用了马儿‘本性’的特点来给自己的生活带来好处，我们人类有能力去驯服马儿也是人类‘本性’的一部分。我们有能力思考、有能力改变我们的环境，而这个能力是‘自然’赐给我们的，是我们的‘天性’。所以我想，驯服马儿或许真是违反了马的‘自然’，但却并没有违反了人类的‘自然’，换言之，这是人类的发展和文化。
文化的表现也是将人类和动物区分的一个主要表现。人类不可能永远都只是‘织则衣，耕则食’，我觉得文明和发展是人类重要的一部分，若真只是‘织则衣，耕则食’，那人类又和马儿“陆居则食草饮水，喜则交颈相靡，怒则分背相踶”有什么区别呢？人拥有比动物更能思考、更能创造的能力，所以我们才有文明，才有文化。不然，人类和动物就没有区别了。
四、《孟子•告子》
人的四端
“恻隐之心，仁也；羞恶之心，义也；恭敬之心，礼也；是非之心，智也。仁义礼智，非由外铄我也，我固有之也，弗思耳矣。故曰：求则得之，舍则失之。”孟子说，每个人都有同情心；每个人都有羞耻和憎恶之心；每个人都能谦恭及有礼；每个人都有分辨对错的能力。仁、义、礼和智也就是人所谓的‘四端’。外在的东西是无法损毁我的仁、义、礼、智的，我一定会取得的，要除去外面不好的思想和听到的东西。所以说，只要去寻找，就能得到，若你止息，那就会失去它。
仁、义、礼、智是每个人拥有的‘端’，如老师所说的，这四端是有待扩充的。就像老师在上课时也有提及过，当一个人看到别人有危险时，内心一定会不好受，而这就是‘仁’。谁都不愿意也不忍心看见另外一个人受苦，若看到别人受苦自己内心还觉得无所谓，那这个人必定是不仁之人，他或许已偏离了正道，失去了人本来就拥有的恻隐之心，正所谓“仁，人心也”。
‘义’是懂得对自己做了偏离正道的事而自觉羞耻，因为每个人都会有自己的一套做人的原则，而当做出了背叛了自己原则的事情时，自己便会感到羞愧。憎恶之心则体现于看见别人做了偏离正道的行为时，自己的内心也不会感到愉快。看了这句话后，我对于‘见义勇为’这四个字有了更深的领悟。当我们看到违反了自己原则的事时，应该果敢地做些什么，来纠正那件不义的事。但这是需要很大的勇气的，而我想，这份勇气取决于一个人有多坚信及忠于着他自己的原则。孟子也有说道“义，人路也”，义是人走的路，而这反映于我们的行为举止。
‘礼’是对于他人所存有的尊敬，我认为这份尊敬不是因为身份地位而产生的，而是对于每一个人都持有的恭敬之心，这也是活在群体社会里的必须。这是一种尊重个体，尊重生命的表现，所以尊敬他人其实也同时在尊敬自己。自己对于别人的态度反映了自己如何看待人生的一切，若不以恭敬的态度去对待他人，那自己的生命是苦的，不开心的，因为自己无法看见生命的宝贵和重要才会无视于他人。
‘智’是分辩对错的能力，这份能力与以上三点息息相关。读书、学习得到更多知识或许更能帮助一个人去分辨对错，但是‘智’并不能完全等同于知识。对与错的定义往往或许会被外在的环境所影响，当一个人看见了一件他自知识不受社会认同的事情时，他就能分辨那是错的。我认为‘智’这一端的扩充很多是来自于自身的信念。譬如说，当一个人看到‘不仁’、‘不义’或‘不礼’，他必须能辨别这是错的。但是有些事情并非能用对或错直接断定，所以，这靠的是个人的‘智’来辨别。

学问之道
“学问之道无他，求其放心而已矣。”学习知识没有别的目的，为的是要消除内心的忧虑。许多人或许是为了功名利禄而求知，但是真正学有所成的人没有这样的追求，他们通过学习，对人生有所领悟而豁然开朗时，内心的忧愁自然而然就消失了，这应该就是所谓的‘放心’吧。
我想，这与以上所提及的四端的扩充有所关联，学习可以帮助我们扩充我们的‘四端’，而当我们能发挥好‘仁、义、礼、智’这四端时，我们就离‘放心’不远了吧。好好地学习将能让人们解除内心的忧闷，若怀着其他的目的学习，那或许就无法从学习中得到真正的收获吧。
‘心’是人类最重要的东西，不是因为它不仅维持着生命、还主宰着生命。“心之官則思；思則得之，不思則不得也。”用眼睛看、用耳朵听，不足以让一个人获得什么（从生命中领悟到什么），我们一定要用心思考，若不懂得思考就无法得到什么。这就是为什么老师一直要我们想问题、发现问题，因为只有通过思考，自己才能真正有所领悟，而这才是我们的‘得’。
‘思’是我们的天性，是我们与生俱来的本能，若不善用我们的心来思考，我们就不能很好地发挥我们的天性。就像孔子所说的“学而不思则罔，思而不学则殆”，这两句话有异曲同工之妙。只懂得学习但不思考的话，人就会迷惑，但若只懂得思考而不努力学习的话，这是危险的。学习和思考有着唇亡齿寒的关系，若要有所‘得’，就要努力地学习、认真地思考。
五、《荀子•性恶》
社会的秩序
“无礼义，则悖乱而不治，古者圣王以人性恶，以为偏险而不正，悖乱而不治，是以为之起礼义，制法度，以矫饰人之情性而正之，以扰化人之情性而导之也，始皆出于治，合于道者也。”
我对这句话的理解是：没有礼义，社会就会处于在一种没有秩序的状态中，圣人因为人的性偏离了正道而‘发明’了礼义，创制法度。‘情性’在此指的就是人的本性。所以人的法度是用来改变人们本性而制定的，而通过驯服（扰）及改变（化）来引导人们。这样做的目的是在于治（使不乱），是合乎事理（道）的。
所以说，所谓的礼义和法度都是为了“矫正”人的情性而存在的。对于旬子而言，人“生而有好利焉”，使人争夺。为了遏制人们的这种行径，必须有礼义和法度。但对于人们需要被改正的行径，旬子并没有直接给予褒贬的评价，而他只是说这些行径将让社会处于在“乱”的状态中。
他的这一论说，古往今来，似乎都体现于社会中。今天，法律条规，甚至国家政府采取的任何措施也都是因人民而定，是为了“矫正”人民的行径而定。譬如，数年前新加坡发生好几件高楼坠物砸死人的事件后，政府便以法律阻止人们在窗口或走廊上放置花盆之类的危险物品。而最近政府也在地铁上播放音乐，吁请人们排队，不要推挤。如果人们的行为没有偏差，没有扰乱社会秩序，我们还会需要法律来约束我们吗？其实，这是很令人惭愧的事实，以荀子的角度看来，真正文明的社会是不需要法度来管理的。
所以，旬子有这一论说：“礼义者，圣人之所生也，人之所学而能，所事而成者也。” 礼义是圣人发明的，人们学了就能懂得礼义，实行了礼义便能成为有礼义的人。虽然对他而言，人心本来就好利、本来就有欲望，但是他们可以接受教导，因而懂得了礼义，并实行礼义。就像我们本来就不懂得如何开车，但学了理论和操作方法后，便能真正地驾驶一部车子。可是，也有一些人无法通过驾驶考试而得不到执照，不能合法地开车。
所以说，“礼义”也是一种技能吧？有的人或许受教了，但无法实行。有些人可能懂得了“礼义”的道理，但不愿意去实行。这里，旬子提出了这一论点：“然则能不能之与可不可，其不同远矣，其不可以相为明矣。”一个人能不能做一件事和可以不可以去做一件事，这两者的差距是很大的，能不能与可不可不是等同的，所以不能用同样的一个观点去明白，去了解。就像“故小人可以为君子，而不肯为君子；君子可以为小人，而不肯为小人。”
这句话指小人可以有君子的行为但却不愿意这么做，而君子也可以有小人的行为但却不肯这么做。对于荀子来说，或许每一个人都是有欲望的，但我们的行为举止却是由我们选择的，我们能做的，不一定是我们可以做的，因为它违反了我们自己的原则或意愿，所以每个人有自己选择的路可走，有些人的选择偏离了正道，有些的选择则让他们通向正道。
“故陶人埏埴而为器，然则器生于陶人之伪，非故生于人之性也。故工人斫木而成器，然则器生于工人之伪，非故生于人之性也。”
荀子与《庄子•马蹄》篇的作者用了相似的比喻，以阐述人性。荀子认为圣人好比陶人、工人，而人民好比埴、器。礼义是圣人附加在人民的东西，让人民成了‘器’，而这不是人的本性。圣人以礼义来约束人们的行为，就像陶人将泥土做成器一样。这比喻和《庄子•马蹄》篇的作者有点相似，但是想要传达的意思却不同。《庄子•马蹄》篇的作者认为陶人将泥土做成器是违反了泥土的本性，就是说治天下者不应该控制人的本性。
可是换个角度来看，孟子也提道，人性有四端，只要这四端得到扩充，人就能发挥他的善性，。但“势”造成了人性的改变，所以圣人是用礼义来‘更正’人性，这样一来，孟子和旬子的出发点虽不同，但结论好像是一样的。‘礼义’的存在是帮助着社会维持秩序，改曲为直。
用了类似的比喻，《荀子》、《孟子》和《庄子》都进行了论述，这就是老师所谓的‘对话’吧？这几个学者通过类似的比喻来论述了他们不同的观点，让我们更能看清学者之间观点的异同之处。
六、《韩非子•解老》
上德
韩非子以“虚者，谓其意无所制也。今制于为虚，是不虚也。虚者之无为也，不以无为为有常。不以无为为有常则虚，虚则德盛，德盛之谓上德。”解释了老子‘上德’的概念。谦虚的人的意志或意愿是不需要被控制的，若要刻意地去控制，那就不是真的谦虚。谦虚的人的这种‘无为’不是刻意去维持的，所谓“不以无为为有常”，而真正能做到如此，就是真正谦虚的人。一个人若谦虚，他将有很多的‘德’，这就是‘上德’。
所以，所谓的“无为而无不为也”应该就是指真正的‘上德’是无为的，且不应该是有意于无为而无为的。这种德是一种自然的体现，是不自觉的。但老子所谓的‘德’是什么呢？从《老子四种》，我所了解的‘德’是有所得，而上面也提过了，‘德’是宇宙万物个体的个性。‘上德’所指的应该就是最大、最真的得，相对的，有为的就不是真正的‘德’，而是‘下德’，这就是《老子》“上德无为而无以为，下德为之而有以为”的意思吧。
这句话让我联想到我有一天在学校捐钱的事情。那一天，我只带了两块钱到学校，看到有人在募捐，便随手投了个五角钱的硬币进去。这就是一种‘有为’的行为吧，因为，我是因为知道他们在募款而捐钱的，而且，我还能清楚地知道我所捐出的数目。当然，我想这不是不好的事情，因为我的出发点只是想为受难的人进一点绵力。但是正因为我有这种想法，所以这是‘下德’，因为我是自觉地，有为地去实行这件事。只有能真正做到不自觉地帮助他人，才能称为‘上德’，当然，若有自觉地去追求‘上德’，那也无法真正地去领悟到所谓‘上德’的道理。所以，这真是‘玄之又玄’啊。
福兮祸之所伏
“人有祸则心畏恐，心畏恐则行端直，行端直则思虑熟，思虑熟则得事理。行端直则无祸害，无祸害则尽天年，得事理则必成功。尽天年则全而寿，必成功则富与贵，全寿富贵之谓福。”
韩非子以这段话解释老子“福兮祸之所伏”。韩非子的解释应该是说，人因害怕灾难降临，而会存恐惧之心，行为就不会偏离正道，思想就会成熟。而若不偏离正道，灾难就不会降临，就能享尽天年。在享受天年之际就可得到富与贵，而这就是福（寿、富、康宁、攸好德、考终命）。所以说，福是由祸而生。
我觉得这句话逻辑上看似合理，但是我在想，人是否每一个都是因为害怕灾难降临而不偏离正道的吗？真的是这份恐惧之心在领导着人们的言行举止吗？我想，还是有其他的事情或事物引导着人们走向‘正道’的。因为我想，若每个人都‘有祸则心畏恐’才有端直的行为，那是否就不是发自内心的呢？那若不是发自内心地过日子，真会得到真正的‘福’吗？
韩非子对于《老子》的解释，是以他自己的观点出发吧，我觉得他解释得很有逻辑，但可能每个人在读《老子》的时候都会有自己的理解和领悟。在《老子》的第五十八章写道“祸兮福之所倚，福兮祸之所伏。孰知其极。其无正。”我对这句话的理解是福‘依着’祸而祸则‘藏匿’于福，但谁可以知道它（福或祸）的极端呢？我想，这是向告诉我们，人无法常处于祸或福，最重要是懂得知足，并得到内心的快乐与满足。
而正所谓“物极必反”，就像《中国哲学史》所解释的“任何事物的某些性质如果向极端发展，这些性质一定转变成它们的反面”。所以，老子的这句话或许就是想要我们了解，“勿太过”的道理，一旦“太过”便会偏离了正道，我们做任何事情都应该适量。

迷
“人莫不欲富贵全寿，而未有能免于贫贱死夭之祸也。心欲富贵全寿，而今贫贱死夭，是不能至于其所欲至也。凡失其所欲之路而妄行者之谓迷，迷则不能至于其所欲至矣。”人，没有不希望享受生命于荣华富贵的，但也很少能避免经理贫穷、低贱、死亡等灾难的。但若想享受生命于荣华富贵，却面临灾难，就是无法得到自己想到大的地方。很多人因为执著于自己想得到的东西而在人生的道路中迷失了，而一旦迷失，就更无法得到自己想得到的。
这句话让我有所体会。在现今社会中，大多数人都希望自己的生活变得更‘美好’而奔波，谁又在真正地享受生命呢？有大房子、大车子并不一定快乐。但人们好像是为了物质上的享受而活着，而往往忽略了精神上的须要。有些人甚至在追求公民利禄的途中误入歧途，偏离了正道而做出了伤天害理的事情。这就是所谓的‘迷’吧？但谁又真正了解自己，知道自己真正需要些什么呢？
所以韩非子在《解老》篇中写道“故圣人衣足以犯寒，食足以充虚，则不忧矣。众人则不然，大为诸侯，小余千金之资，其欲得之，忧不除也”。圣人满足于有衣服可以抗寒、有食物可以充饥，就不会愁。但是人们就不是这样了，他们想得到高官俸禄，想要有金钱，但即使得到了，愁苦仍然在。所以很多人就是因为执著于追求想要的东西而在人生的道路中迷失了。

六、总结
中国哲学史这门课让我学到了很多，也领悟到很多。我觉得学习哲学、认识思想家的思想是一个潜移默化的经验。它所传达的不是应付考试的知识，而是让我反省、让我思考，让我更了解自己要走的道路。我想，我所学到的知识会慢慢地、不知不觉地影响我，指引着我如何待人处事、如何思考、如何用不同的角度去看待这个世界。我很庆幸自己学择修读这门课，但学习之路不会因为这一学期的结束而到达尾声，我还有太多太多的东西想要学习，向更进一步地去发现一个我从未真正认识的世界。

CH2211 中国哲学史

一、简介

说实在的，阅读经典原著的时候遇到了不少困难，毕竟以前的汉语和先进的用法不同，表达的意义也会不同，但是我一直记得一句话“学习哲学求得是一种感悟，不是解释”，所以过程虽困难但我却乐在其中。自从七年前第一次接触《论语》时，它就一直影响着我，在潜移默化中，我觉得我成长了。哲学对我很重要，不，应该是对每个人都很重要。如老师说的，它是讲人生，讲如何成为“人”。在这几个星期内，我学到了不少，也得到了许多的感悟。

二、《中国哲学史》
哲学与思想
记得老师说过，中国哲学是关于“人”，而《中国哲学史》中，作者所提及的哲学是“对于人生的有系统的反思的思想” 。所以，这就为什么我们在读哲学作品时，一定要联系生活，并要对自己的人生有所思考，才能对其中的道理有所领悟或发现。
书中对于“道德价值”和“超道德价值”的解释后，我看了后有点茫然。所谓的“超道德价值”是不是指不爱只能够分辨好坏、对错的人或事，而是要 “泛爱众”？也是否就是说，不以价值观去判断事物，而去包容世上的一切就是超道德价值？
后来我觉得“超道德价值”或许就是课堂上提及过的“alternative reality”。人的内心，或多或少，都存在着一种“超道德价值”的事物吧。我是一个没有宗教信仰的人，不是因为我不相信神、鬼、轮回，而可能是缘分还没到。但是，当我遇到什么幸运的事情时，我总会默默感谢“天”。譬如说早上我走到巴士站，刚好就有我要搭乘的巴士来时，我就会心存感激，并默念“谢谢”，也希望幸运的事情常常会发生。可能有人会说这只是芝麻绿豆的小事、只是一种际遇，但是我就会莫名的感谢“天”。所以我想，这应该就是所谓的“超道德价值”吧？
“超道德价值”的“天”存在于每个人的想象中。它应该是没有“好”或“坏”的，却主宰着宇宙内外的万物。我一直很相信“好人有好报，恶人有恶报”这句话，并觉得所谓的“报”应该就是“天”所决定的吧。它不是能与道德价值来衡量的，一个人相信它，并不是因为它善良或慈悲，若是如此，那就是附有“道德价值”的。
人与宇宙同一
《中国哲学史》的第一章也有提到“人与宇宙同一”的概念，而一个圣人或哲学家要“修养自己，连续地、一贯地保持无私无我的纯粹经验” 这样他她才可以达到与宇宙“同一”的境界。我觉得要做到“无私无我”，谈何容易。但我想这是每个人都应该努力达到的理想境界，若每个人都朝着这个目标努力，这世上就不会有所谓的“功名利益”了吧。人与宇宙统一是一个理想，但是最重要的应该是过程。
学习哲学的目的应该就是要通向“大道”，学习怎样真正地做一个人。每个人知识的积累和生活的经验都是帮助他通向“大道”的“小路”吧。我觉得，没有一条小路是直接通向大道的，通往大道的路是曲折和坎坷的，而真正能踏上大道的人或许不多，但是只要自己不断地沿着小路走而不偏离，就能有所感悟，就能得到启发，人生也就能变得更美好。

毋太过
《中国哲学史》这一书中也提到了“毋太过”的概念。刚开始时，我并不是很明白为什么“毋太过”？为什么说“不及比太过好，不做比做得过多好”呢？譬如说，书读的多总比不读好吧？到底“毋太过”究竟要告诉我们什么道理呢？
我想，关键应该在于“太”吧，“太过”也就是说超过了适当的程度。而我认为，每个人做每件事都有不一样的“适当的程度”。这是对于个人的性格、心态而言。就如，一个人如果废寝忘食地学习，忽略了周遭的一切事物，这就是“太过”了。这不仅达不到学习的效果，反而还伤了身子。这就适得其反，还不如不学习好。这就好像吃东西一样，人参、燕窝、蔬菜、水果都一样，任何东西是多了总会对身体造成伤害。
人们待人处世事也一样，凡事都应该做的恰当，不应过多。但是这“恰当”的程度要拿捏得好，必须自己经历与试验的。

三、《论语》
学而时习之，不亦说乎
子曰：“学而时习之，不亦说乎？有朋自远方来，不亦乐乎？人不知而不愠，不亦君子乎？” （《论语•学而》）《论语》首篇的这一句是我从中学开始就反复背诵的，因为它让我有深刻的省思。刚开始学《论语》时，我只是懵懵懂懂地跟着老师的声音背诵着，对其中的含义没有一丝的体会。而老师也只是叫我们背诵，也不讲解，并说留给我们以后慢慢体会其中的含义。我觉得很奇妙，我所领悟的“含义”随着我的成长而有了许多的改变。
上了大学，又再次认真地读了一遍《论语》，我对其中的字字句句又产生了新的感觉。我曾在中学担任过代课老师，有一次，被分配到全级考试成绩最不理想的一班。班上有9个学生，每一个华文都考F9（也就是最低的等级）。有几位老师在我上第一节课时就对我述说了这“九条好汉”的“英雄事迹”，让我有些心理准备。这几位学生虽然顽固、虽然不愿意受教，但是我却很喜欢他们。因为他们很真实，而有我值得学习的地方。
他们大多来自于单亲家庭，生活背景也比一般学生复杂，当然，这不是他们让他们为非作歹的借口，但我知道，他们只是缺乏一个能给予他们爱的人。我能做的不多，但是我与他们分享了这一则《论语》，并让他们自己去体会其中的道理。因为“学而时习之，不亦说乎”这一句话在我学习的道路上不断地鼓励着我。每当有人向我诉苦说学习难时，我心中便会浮现着一句话。而我认为，这句话对于那几个学生来说意义更是重大，他们必须找到和培养那份学习的热忱才可能领悟到其中的乐趣与美妙。
不患人之不己知，患不知人也
子曰：“不患人之不己知，患不知人也。” （《论语•学而》）起初看这句话时，我也感到十分迷惘。看了，《四书章句》后，很像能有所感悟。这句话在《四书章句》的注解为：“君子求在我者，故不患人之不己知。不知人，则是非邪正或不能辩，故以为患也。”
我不晓得我的理解是否正确，但感觉上这句话很像是说，要懂得去分辨一个人的好坏，自己才可以借鉴。就像《论语•述而》里的“三人行，必有我师焉。择其善者而从之，其不善者而改之。” （《论语•述而》）每一个人都有值得自己去学习、去借鉴的地方，只有真正了解了其他人才能让自己有所进步。
《礼仁》篇里就有一章写道：“见贤思齐焉，见不贤而内自省也” （《论语•里仁》），这简单的字句却有着深层的道理。每一个人都是不同的，但在某种程度上又是一样的。我时常会想起这句话，并一直用这句话提醒自己，每个人都有值得学习的地方，并应该虚心地去接受每一个人。自己并不完美，也不应该要求每个人都迎合自己的想法及个性。
君子与小人
在学习《论语》的这一期间，心里浮现了一个问题：小人与君子之间是否存在着一个“灰色地带”呢？这个问题之所以会浮现在心里是因为最近我做了一件让我深感愧疚，且让我无地自容的事，让我觉得我是个小人。这份内疚之感久久无法抹去，并想起了《论语》的字字句句。
在《论语》中，许多有关于“君子”的章句是通过“君子”与“小人”的对比来呈现的。譬如，“君子坦荡荡，小人长戚戚” （《论语•述而》）、“君子喻于义，小人喻于利” （《论语•里仁》）、“君子周而不比，小人比而不周” （《论语•为政》）。在这些例子中，孔子似乎把一些行为或处事方法归类为“君子”或“小人”两种分类，难道君子和小人之间存在着一道明确的界限？
我觉得这种归类法或许只是想更明确地表达孔子心中君子待人处事的态度。我想我们可以换一个角度去看，孔子并不是在做“归类”，而只是利用对比带出君子和小人之间存在着的一些差别。要确切地把所有人都归类于“君子”和“小人”的类别是并不是很切实际，我想“君子”与“小人”之间存在着一个灰色地带。
每个人都有自己的一套道德准则，但是可能有时会因为一念之差而做出了违反自己道德准则的行为，但是，我们应该因此就将他归类为小人吗？换言之，一个人若老是在同事的背后偷偷摸摸的，“比而不周”，但在路上却常常见义勇为，那他应该被归类为君子还是小人呢？我觉得，《论语》中关于君子和小人对比的章句不是相对（mutually exclusive）的。
而且，我觉得大多数人都处于这个君子与小人的灰色地带中。我心中有一个“君子”的概念，这一概念是我们的文化背景所塑造的，而在我们每天的生活中，这一概念时时会浮现在脑海里，并影响着我们所做的每一个决定。尤其是当一个人受到启发，并有意识地实行君子所应有的行为举止时，他就存在于这一个灰色地带中。
《论语•里仁》片中有一则章句“君子之于天下也，无适也，无莫也，义之与比。 ”刚开始读时，我不是很了解，难道君子没有一定的道德标准，而是按照“义”而做？上了几堂课后，我觉得“义”并不是能以道德标准来衡量的。“义”应该是来自于自身的，就像老师所提及的“仁”一样。所以，“君子喻于义，小人喻于利”这个对比就更能让人理解了，一位君子没有什么一定不去做，也没有什么事情一定要做，而只是按照自己的“义”为标准。
什么样子的学生能得到孔子的认可？
我认为，不仅是孔子，对任何老师而言，好的学生应该抱着一颗谦虚求知的心。他的应该要有能力去接受并对于所教给他的事物进行思考，这样才能有效地吸取知识，并得到领悟。要做到这点，首先就必须将“本分”做好，正如孔子所说的“不愤不启，不悱不发”（《论语•述而》），若想从老师那里得到启发，自己就应进行思考。在上课前做好准备，上课时领心听讲，下课后进行思考。对于我的学生也一样，每每教给他们的作业我都要求他们必须完成，但并不要求他们的答案是百分百正确。因为我觉得，重要的在于过程，结果往往则是次要。
成绩并不能代表学习的成果，而学习的成果大多是反映在学生的心里、行为和态度。有些学生的领悟能力较低，需要较长的时间才能明白某个理论或道理，就像我自己一样，需要很长的时间才能领悟所看过的字字句句。过程并不完全苦涩，能得到一丝领悟的时候就能让我心里甜滋滋的。所以，作为学生最重要的是“学而不厌” ，并充分地利用自己的时间。
孔子对于懂得如何“举一反三”的学生特别给予鼓励。在〈学而〉篇中，子贡与孔子就有一番对话，子贡引用了《诗经》里的话来比喻孔子说所得道理，控制听了便说：“赐也！始可与言《诗》已矣，告诸往而知来者。” 从孔子的回答中，一句感叹带出了他内心的兴奋。对子贡来说，能与孔子一起谈论《诗经》必定是莫大的鼓励和肯定。子贡能这样地引用《诗经》的字句代表，无论是孔子说阐述的道理或是《诗经》的深意，他已有所领悟。这就表示，能举一反三并把学过的知识运用在生活里，才是真正的领悟。
此外，从〈雍也〉篇中，我们也可以知道孔子心目中的好学生具备了什么条件。在第二章中，哀公问孔子那一个学生是好学生，孔子回答道：“有颜回者好学，不迁怒，不贰过”。在这个回答中，我们可以得知彦渊是孔子的得意门生，而他既不易动怒，也不犯同样的错误。我想，“不迁怒”也就代表着一个人的修养内涵，一个人的内心要是平静的、不抱着怨恨的，才能做到这一点。而当一个人“不贰过”，也就表示，他从每一次的错误中学习，并借鉴于失败，做事小心谨慎。
我们应该在日常生活中时时提醒自己，并铭记这些深刻的道理，努力地朝做为一个好学生前进。

四、《墨子•兼爱》
名字的责任
根据《中国哲学史》所说，墨子在几个方面是反对孔子的，但在一些道德理念上却与孔子有相同之处。譬如在《墨子•兼爱》中所提及的“为人君必惠，为人臣必忠；为人父必慈，为人子必孝；为人兄必友，为人弟必悌。 ”与孔子“君君，臣臣，父父，子子” 的概念相像。作为人，必须尽好本分，而这是使社会安定的重要条件。
看看现今社会，果真如此。当人不坚守本分时，社会就会出现不安宁。譬如台湾领导人陈水扁贪赃舞弊的行为使到人民不满而引起许多社会问题。所以在社会的任何阶层都一样，只要一个人不做好分内的事，秩序就会遭到破坏。在一个家庭里也一样，当父亲的就要尽好当父亲的责任。这个责任，我认为是蕴含在我们个别的文化中的一个概念。比如说，“子”的责任或该有的表现就收入在《弟子规》里，这种概念是一代接着一代继承下来的，并已根深蒂固，成了我们的文化的一部分。
这让我联想到了在课堂上，劳老师所提及的“名”的这一概念。名，对于中国人来说意义重大，它不只代表着一个人的称呼，更重要的是这个称呼背后必须负起的责任和义务。我想，这就是成语“实至名归”的道理吧。
兼爱
墨子的主要概念“兼爱”让我联想到孔子“泛爱众，而亲仁”的概念。我想，要做一个“兼士”并不是件容易的事。人与人之间一定会有差异，而总会有某些人的行为或思想不是每个人都可以认同的或甚至会反对的。
这种“兼爱”的思想概念是人世想达到的一个理想社会，它很伟大，但也似乎很遥远。但是，每个人若能做到互相爱护，我相信则可达到“天下治”的理想，也就是在课堂中，老师所提及的“大道”的概念吧。
对于一些人，我心中虽没有“恨”但也很难去“爱”他们。我的想法是“道不同，不相为谋” （《论语•季氏》），虽然会在他们有需要时给予帮助，但无法做到为了他们而牺牲自己的阶段。我知道这样的想法是肤浅的，而若要达到“兼爱”的程度，我还有好长的路要走，但现在仍须自觉地去“爱”他们。
在《墨子•兼爱》中，墨子以这一论点来解释如何能让人民“兼爱”：“夫爱人者，人必从而爱之；利人者，人必从而利之；恶人者，人必从而恶之；害人者，人必从而害之。”起初还以为这句话应该就是“好人友好报，恶人有恶报”的意思。但想了想，这句话的意思不仅如此，它意味着人的“感染力”。
不论好人、坏人，他们都对于周遭的人有所影响。一个人，若真心地爱着周围的人，那么周围的人将受到感染并“从而爱之”，相对而言，一个人若对周围的人心不友善，或甚至加以迫害，那周围的人将会被他的举动影响，大多也不会友善地对待他。所以，这句话是想以这一个道理促使人们兼爱，以希望能达到“天下兼相
爱，国与国不相攻，家与家不相乱，盗贼无有，君臣父子皆能孝慈” ，并完成“天下治”的理想。
我想，最重要的就是从个人出发，以自己去影响他人。若想在一个美好的环境里生活，最重要就是自己的内心、思想、行为都应该要是美好的。保持一个健康善良的心，周边的人也可以感受到。

六、总结
《论语》对我来说并不陌生，也很享受重新认识《论语》的过程。每一次的阅读都能让我有所感悟，感觉学习的不是里头字字句句的意思而是待人处世的态度。
我用了三天的时间才把《兼爱》大略读了一遍，中篇的内容也没有读得很懂，因此而感受到非常大的挫折感。上了第二堂辅导课后，心情开朗了许多。就像老师说的那一句话，一定要相信自己。其实读古典名著不难，但放弃却往往更容易。
这几周的学习经验让我获益不浅，而且读过的、听到的字字句句都会对我有很深远的影响。我期待下一个阅读笔记，并期待能做得更好、更完整。

"if singapore were to be at war, i'd be the first to run to malaysia"

this was what i heard in nus canteen yesterday. nope, i dont blame the guy for making this statement, it just reflects a sad truth, that we singaporeans do not feel much for singapore.

i love singapore and is proud to be a singaporean, but this pride is diminishing. you cant deny the fact that singapore has become a little china. and the thing is that, i could hardly see them as foreign 'talents'. many of the chinese friends i know are not intending to spend the rest of their lives in singapore. many simply use singapore as a platform to further their studies in other countries, and no, i dont blame them for that. why would they stay in a foreign land where they feel nothing for?

since young, i've been told that singapore is a clean and safe country, but today, we see that the cleanliness and the security of this place are becoming a facade of singapore. and that my neighbourhood definitely isnt as safe as before.

at the age of 20, i didnt been through japanese occupation, merger and separation, the struggle of independence, and what im going through is the influx of foreign 'talents'. i recognise the needs for singapore to attract people here to maintain our economy, the size of population and global competitiveness, but i guess the government could be more selective in granting citizenships and should consider the fact that our national identity is being compromised in the process.

i dont think it is exaggerating to say that more than 50% of singaporean-chinese are PRCs. i know that the singapore-chinese were also immigrants, however, they've been contributed and been through struggles to gain that citizenship. but many of my friends simply gain citizenship after studying here for a couple of years.

i just could not get back to sleep.

you guys would know how hard is it for me to fall asleep. and when i finally did last night at around 12pm, i found myself very much awake at 3am. thanks to my roommate. it was not the first time that her non-stop chattering with her 'friend' woke me up or caused me sleeping difficulties. when i had already my OWN sleep problem to deal with.

i had voiced my concerns before, and it DEFINITELY doesn't help for her to wait for me to fall asleep THEN wake me up in the middle of the night. i seriously need my 8 hours of sleep and she should know it better than anyone else.

i know to many guys she is the 'princess' to be waited upon, but sorry, i just had enough for being the one who has to accommodate her all the time. urgh. it's really time for me to get away, from school, from home, and hopefully i would be in shanghai in two months' time.

the glare from the screen is blinding me. and i'm using my laptop in the living room. perhaps i should go back into my room and blast some music. haish, but nope, i'm not that childish.

i just hope that she could be more considerate. i guess, the worse is yet to come.

i know it's futile to keep dwelling on the past. but for the whole of today, i can't help but keep having the same thought. what if i did accept the overseas scholarship...

hm. i don't why this comes to me suddenly. i guess i have made many wrong choices in life. perhaps it was one of them. however, i also believe in letting nature takes its course. perhaps this is all it meant to be?

i'm not sure if i believe in destiny, but perhaps some things are just meant to be, again, 这不是消极的想法！

and perhaps it's because of this sense of loneliness that sent me the thought. or perhaps it's because of the initial reason which made me turn down the offer does not exist anymore.

i wanna clear this thought. perhaps, i would also regret if i were to really study in china. haha. alright~ i should try shaking the thought off by playing neopets.

this semester has been quite a breeze for me. i can't say that my workload is small, but i guess my attitude towards school has changed. nope, it's not a bad change.

yeah, i don't really bother about my grades and performance, what i'm concern with are the things that really worth concerning. i love what i'm studying, no matter how hard to grasp they are, i love to attend lectures, no matter how boring they are, i love to do assignments, no matter how poorly graded they are. yup. and i'm definitely enjoying my life.

这不是消极的，相反的，心态上的转变会影响每一天的生活。

but i still can't wait for this semester to end, so that i'll be on my way to korea, and china ^^

am currently at fass com lab now. haha. munching on bread and with a cup of hot milo... oooh. heaven!

it was my second time donating blood today! woohoo~ felt so fulfilling but it hurt more than the first time. lol.

the play "those who can't, teach" is fabulous! it has given me a great laugh and many deep thoughts. it has covered many many many issues, regarding the 'calling' and passion for teaching, 'scholar' issues, failures, education policies and life in general. gosh. i had so many thoughts going through my mind and i would like to keep them there... haha. so i'm not sharing, nyah nyah.

alright. had a great day today. went back to jj to help guolian with an interview, it was great catching up with her. went to swim at jurong east swimming complex and had a great time swimming. after which went to tiong bahru for tuition. it was a nice day =D

changed tomorrow's tuition timing to 830am. Zzz. because i'm going kbox with my sisters, brother-in-law and johnathan. so.. i better start getting to sleep now.

moved out of pgpr today. im so gonna miss my life there. nevermind, im looking forward to sep. i have already accepted the offer to fudan university, and hopefully everything goes well if not i would have to pay three hundred bucks. lol. i have so many documents to prepare, but the two most troublesome things are kinda done. i need to have two recommendation letters and im really surprised that my professors were so ready to write for me because i do not really know them neither do they really know me lol. i guess its because i went to them personally and prepared a write-up of myself. teehee.

alright, time to play! finished my last paper today and well, it was okay, but not fantastic, if the bell curve is gentle, A should be achievable.

im looking forward to my first korean class tomorrow at china town. zzz. my sis chose that place. but nevermind, i have a straight bus there. and tomorrow im going to watch yangce's performance at nafa! together with eleen. cant wait.

suju's making a comeback on may 14, their teaser has already been released. but im kinda sad that hyukie's hair is so short. oh that reminds me of my dream last night. lol, that was my best night in about six months? anyway, i dreamt of him and teukie, haha, and i kept calling eunhyuk oppa eunhyuk oppa. omg. gross. okay, shall stop talking about my dream and return to reality.

my insomnia is getting from bad to worse. the last two days have been complete torment for me. yesterday i lied on the bed from 12 to 2am, cant sleep, woke up, drank some chocolate milk and hot milo, study (not because im hardworking but because i had nothing to do) till 4am, get onto bed again...still cant sleep. started counting... till maybe about 200 clouds... and i THINK i slept. but it doesnt seem like it...
woke up with eyes super dry.. and remembered that i still have a can of nescafe in the fridge (gotten free from the open house), drank half and ate some bread, went to mpsh. alighted at the wrong stop but i was super early.. saw matt standing at a very significant spot, said hi, went to the toilet, got back to the spot, matt appeared, eugene appeared, chatted, didnt see tabby nor ben. heard tabby's voice, oh lucky, she sat beside matt. zzzzz... finished the paper in an hour, left the examination hall. decided to take a walk to the library, walked past the pool, felt like jumping in.
stomach was growling, finally received a message from my sis, had lunch together, the deck's western stall is quite bad.
went back to the library to mug... decided that i could sleep, went back to pgp, lied on the bed... zzz. fell asleep after an hour of rolling...
woke up around 6, studied a bit, ate cereal, played till now, nearly 11pm. am just going to look through the past year papers for now, and hopefully... sleep.

oh dear, i am starving.

well, i have been in the library for the past 3 hours but i haven't done anything much. i guess it's really time for me to get the momentum to start mugging. gosh. i am feeling so guilty right now.

went to watch tzelin's performance yesterday and it was really awesome. thinking of how much hard work the dancers had put into their practices, it is really touching and heart warming. and especially when your close friend is up on stage, the feeling is indescribable, it could only be felt. i am looking forward to future performances =)

okay.. i am going to stay in the library for half an hour more and hopefully i would fully utilise the 30 minutes. looking forward to hanging out with eleen AFTER our exams =( well, but tomorrow im going to hang out with scandalous, cant wait ^^

went to the nus open house with yukai, yanhong and dalian. haha. got some freebies back. so sad, did not get ramly burger for lunch.

brought yh and dalian to visit my room, while yk brings his friends around the open house. we had lunch and my room and yh was busy applying for nus...?? =.="

then went down to bring yk up and they gave me a surprise by popping confetti at me. lol, they bought such a large box, ooh and they gave me a cheesecake!! yummy yummy yummy. i love it, thanks! it can be my dinner, breakfast, lunch and dinner again. haha =)

sent them off at about 5 then went back to my room to work on my term paper... haha. not in a rush though, but i think i will complete really fast.

got an audition tmr for an emcee role for.... can't remember what event. was asked to help by audrey but i am really reluctant... zzz.. perhaps i should fail the audition purposely, haha, okay, i shall see how it goes~

btw, i had actually enjoyed myself at the arts quiz yesterday, haha, especially the pizza celebration, omg, yummy!

oh crap! i fell down (again!) just now! It was raining and my slippers slipped... luckily there aren't many people around. i tried my best to protect my unprotected laptop and my knee is hurting terribly now. gosh, but luckily i didnt hurt my face this time. haha >.<

ouch ouch ouch.

i thought i was already late for lecture since i've spent a considerable amount of time moaning and cleaning my wound. in the end, i barged into a lecture theatre and grabbed a seat and realised that the previous lecture has not ended and i was fifteen minutes early. shitty. i heard people giggling as i walked in, guess they thought that i was super late for the lecture. oh well, whatever.

hope the day will get better, and i should really get a laptop bag soon. =(

spent a wonderful day with scandalous and JJ debaters =)

went to meet shooting and yukai around two pm, as usual yukai was late.. zzz. went to the canteen, hall, canteen then hall again.. haha. got the results, not bad =) hung around for a awhile, saw mr. SHANKAR, talked to him for awhile.. he's as charming as before.

went jp with shooting and yukai, sat at long john, waited for charleston and crystal. then.. yukai and shooting went to meet molly to go to yh's parade =)

arthur came and crystal, charleston and i were on our way to westwood. haha. adjudicated for two rounds, too bad our original chief adj was not there =( haha. the debates were... i shall not divulge the process..

haha, went back to jp with charleston, crystal and yvonne... they went home and i went to meet yk, yh, shooting and dalian. hahaha. ate mac (thanks for the treat, yh!!) and went to the playground.. hahahaha, played excitedly on the swing. lol. the scene of yk rolling, molly and dalian falling are so funny =))) chatted chatted chatted till around 1130, gotta catch the bus home.....

took 30 with dalian, was really touched by him =) hahaha. can't imagine he could be that 'man'. HAO GAN DONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

went rollerskating at jurong lake park this morning and had a terrible fall. gosh, there is a long stretch of slope (not steep but LONG), and i went too fast then i realised that at the end of the slope is a T junction! OMG. it was suicidal. i cant turn smooth enough and i cant carry on because if i dont turn i will bang onto the fence and fall into the drain. so, my natural instinct taught me to turn BUT i cant decide whether to turn left or right.................................... okay then i fell. it was so terrible... *sobs*

but nvm, after than i continued to skate, lol, skated to lakeside and back to chinese garden, the park connector is toooo small =( walked around in chinese garden and took a train to jurong east and ate the much desired zha jiang mian! omg, my fave fave fave. yeah, and took a bus home. zzzzzz.

the park connector is really nice, but if only it could be much bigger. it is nonetheless, a nice experience to explore the parks around us. i really feel that sometimes people can be so occupied with work and stuff to really spend some time to appreciate life. i dont think life is all about work and study, it is nice to take a walk out in the nature and look beyond the concrete buildings and malls. well, hopefully singapore can soon connect the whole island with parks!

oh dear.. it has been a month since i last blogged.

school is busy! sigh.. i am currently in a midst of doing a chinese project. humph. i've got tons of readings yet to be read, and i dont think im gonna read them all. oh well.

yea, my laptop is finally back to me after one whole month. everything's gone, although i dont really have any important stuff.. but still, the whole of last semester's work is gooonnnnnnneeeee.

heh, after adjudicating the mjc invitationals, i got kinda addicted... SSDC.. here I COME~

oh.. i am so looking forward to the application of SEP. aw.. hurry open soon! I WANNA GO TAIWAN!

met up with yh, dalian n yukai ytd and we talked about going to korea in 2011 December! hee, hopefully this will come true, and have another wonderful trip after the KL trip. and.. bye bye to yukai's hair.. aw.. so sad, the hair he cared about so much and felt so pissed everytime i tried to press it down... haha... it will ALL be gone =)

had a great day slacking at home today. haha, have been watching the korean drama eli introduced, and it is very nice! i dont know the 'right' name for it though, its chinese name is 原来是美男啊 heehee. it is super funny and the second lead actor is damn shuai~ omg, he melts your heart like xiu jie kai. haha. (i feel that the main actor is quite ugly =.=")

it has 16 episodes in all, hopefully i can finish everything in two days, which was what i did for 福气又安康 ^^ i really love all these idol dramas, haha, make you fantasize about relationships... but seriously, being in a relationship in reality is not as romantic and wonderful as seen in the drama. lol. i think, the beautiful relationships could only be found in novels and dramas.

went ikea with karen and tzelin yesterday after our singing session. it is really nice to hang out once in a while, but i guess i am more of a 宅女 haha.

woohoo~

had a very exciting xmas eve! helped 2nd sis to carry the presents to my big sis house and went tuition, haha, after that went back to my big sis's house to prepare for the party!

the preparation was quite alright, it is rather sad that there's something wrong with the oven and we couldnt use it to heat stuff, but, nvm, we had alternatives.
the party was filled with fun activities and YUMMY food! but i caught a cold because the air-con was too cold and then i had terrible runny nose. at ard 11pm, some of the guests left while the remaining ones played mahjong... and.. played at the way till 3am! omg! i couldnt take it and my nose is super blocked so i went to slp. haha. den my sis woke me up and my brother-in-law drove me and 2nd sis home~

so slept at ard 4am.. zzzz.... and i forgot what time i am supposed to meet yh they all.. haha, and asked yh to give me a morning call. in the end, all of us were late, while, and it is kinda rare that i was the latest. haha. i felt realli realli tired because i couldnt slp well with my blocked nose and had to wake up realli early >.<" but nvm, after seeing them i became more energetic. haha.

yay, we went to top1 ktv and sang~ haha, it was rather fun and it was my first time singing with weili! woohoo~ yukai bought chocolates for us and i've bought each of them a packet of m&ms, haha, den we went for dinner at V8. we chatted and chatted and chatted... till we didnt wanna stop. lols, but in the end all of us were quite tired le, so we just bought some stuff and went home.

zzzz.. so here i was. feeling so sleepy yet wanna stay up. haha. went to eleen's house just now and when i walked past Teban Place, i saw a really lonely tree, here it is:

there's something which i suddenly recall and have to blog about =)

went on board Doulos yesterday with my sis, it is a really meaningful ship and i simply love it. you can find out more about it at http://doulos.org it is a non-profit organisation that goes around the globe to lend helping hands to those in need. the crew is made of volunteers from all around the world! it is just so cool!

it's really sad that such a magnificent ship with devoted crew has to be decommissioned, and i feel really lucky that singapore will be the last stop for Doulos.

it was really sad that both me and my sis's phone's batteries are totally flat =.=" and we couldnt take any photos. anyway, we bought some books and look around a bit.

and if you have the chance please go visit this ship!!! it is at vivo's port =) you won't miss it at all!

today is the release of results for semester 1 2009/10! the NUS online checking sucks! it's so terrible. haha.

well. my grades were not as good as expected, with CL1101E B- and CL2121 B!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG! Can you believe that I am going to major in Chinese with this kind of results???? Next semester will definitely be hell for me because I will be studying 5 Chinese modules! !@#$%^

Haish. What to do? I am bonded >.<" I like Chinese but it is far tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo difficult! Argh!

My Chinese results pulled my grades WAY DOWN! Although my overall CAP is 4.2 but it would look much nicer without CHINESE!

Haish, nvm. I really really really shall try harder next semester! Bless me please!

Btw, went vivo with my second sis all day, shopping for gifts for my big sis's xmas party. haha. i felt so tired after that. and when i got home, my mum and lil sis were abt to go commonwealth sec for a xmas celebration. heehee. was tempted to join but i was too tired!

last friday was an eventful day~ it was my big sis's wedding! =)
i was one of her 'sisters' and we had a great time with the groom's 'brothers'.. haha!
i woke up at 5 plus that morning and started some last minute preparation... then.. the gate crash started! then.. blah blah blah...

after all the traditional procedures, the we went to the hotel first to help prepare and rested a bit. then.. i met the co-emcee for the banquet and we started to rehearse... AND the real thing started! haha. it went really smoothly~

last sat helped ry move his stuff over to my house. lol. i didnt really help la.. just gave him emotional support. haha. after which we went to watch PLANET 51!!! woohoo =)

my sis and brother-in-law, together with me, sent ry to the airport. okay...

went to my uncle's house today and slacked there.. haish. only saw dalian's msg in the afternoon. i wanna go SING =)

painted my room a few days ago.. haha. and it is a nice shade of PINK! ry and my feet are hurting by the end of the day. but my 2nd sis, ry and I had an enjoyable time painting! refurnished my room and it seems neater.. for now..

exams are over! haha. but i think i didnt do well for cl1101E. haha. this is my only paper with insufficient time =( oh well. nvm. there's a word which i dont know how to read and we are supposed to write the hanyupinyin! lol, i was so desperate that i asked the teacher for help and he said "非常抱歉，我不能说！" ***sobs*** and the worst thing is, I KNEW THE PRONUNCIATION haha but i didnt trust myself and wrote something else.. oh well.

well, but tuesday was still a good day. after the paper, ry and i went to dhoby ghaut.. haha, and again we were lost >.<" we are always lost. haha. i wonder why. anyway, we managed to find cathay and we wen to eat nihon mura! haha. and the total bill was only $16, yummy and cheap. after eating we went to watch 2012~ lol, the movie was great but i really prefer the light-hearted animations much more... heh. next movie to watch: planet 51!!!!

haish. went to the dental clinic today to mold one of my tooth. haha. the whole "crowning" treatment costs $665. gosh. *heart aches* oh well.... the bigger issue is with my jaw. i have this problem with my jaw which does not allow me to open my mouth too big. and the dentist had to wait for me to open and close my jaws... for more than ten times! after that my jaw felt really tired and weird. humph. it is scary because after the dental treatment, i cant yawn properly without my jaw being stuck.

lol. today ry was damn cute. he tried to catch a dragonfly at the deck >.<" sometimes i cant stand him with his obsession with insects, especially COCKROACHES. haha!!

yesterday my sister's wedding pastries arrived and she was busy delivering them to relatives and neighbors. and this coming saturday my baby sister is going to shanghai~ woohoo~

I just hope that I will score well in the examinations and be on the Dean's list~ haha. yeah I know, I am a dreamer, a true blue Pisces.

Just read a blog written by someone random. I was truly touched by all his entries, either on studies or relationships. I don't know why I am so interested in him, but there's something about him which has attracted me a lot. I realised web 2.0 really gives you no privacy. Haha, I found out all I could about him and stumbled upon his blog. His passion for chinese was really impressive. It has made me reflect on myself....

Friends around me should have known that I am having trouble coping with the chinese modules in NUS and I am currently thinking of appealing to MOE for a change of major. I have talked to my sister and she has said something which is 一针见血. She said, "You are someone who is afraid failure and never dare to step out of your comfort zone." This is so true.

My ambitions have been changing... changing to the tracks which I deemed I am most suitable for. However... is this really the case?

I went JSS because I was afraid of competition in the SAP schools and I'd rather study in a school with familiar faces and no special stream. I chose a triple-science class because all my friends were there. I chose JJC also because of my friends and the less-competitive environment. I took up the MOE LEP scholarship for the money. I chose NUS FASS because I got C for my GP and did not dare to apply for Mass Comm. in NTU. I chose to take up the MOE Teaching scholarship because my teacher mentors complimented me, and for the prestige of it. However, now I want to give up on Chinese because it is too difficult.

I have received an invitation from University Scholars Programme due to a recommendation by my English professor, Dr. Hiramoto. She is one of the most admirable teacher whom I have met. But once again, I have decided to turn it down because I don't think that I could cope with the stress and the additional modules I have to take if I were a U scholar. I have till 30th Nov to finalise my decision but I doubt I have the courage to take up this challenge.

Sigh. I feel totally ashamed of myself. I was never willing to do something which I have no confidence in. However, he is trying so hard to achieve his goals and yet I am whining and lamenting. Moreover, his blog entries are full of hope and meaningful content while mine is simply full of lamentations. How shallower can I be?

I am really wondering if I should take up the challenge and continue studying Chinese...

Just received an email saying that new media final exam will only cover the content after week 8. Yesterday I have spent the WHOLE day mugging through previous lectures of NM. URGH. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME and ink... I have copied all the main points of the readings onto my lecture notes and SHITTY.

Hi all

Went kbox with dalian, yh and yk today. Haha, was pretty fun except that i keep going out of pitch, as usual. Anyway, had a great day. Oh, and you can listen to our kbox recordings (using SAFRA kbox recording system) as seen on my playlist, i don't think my voice sounds like that. I thought it should sound lower. weird. haha, laugh as loud as you can. By the way, dalian and yh's singing competition's audition is tomorrow. Wish them luck~

YO! Haha, I am supposed to be doing my report and assignment now. . but. oh well.

I think I'll miss EL1101E.. It is really one module which I loved and enjoyed! Very much thanks to my lecturer! Oh, nearly I have nearly forgotten about the buffet... yummy sushis and puffs.. *drools

Did not do exceptionally well for the project, got 13/20, but luckily it is still above average. I shall put in more effort in the final exam!

Okay that was random. Anyway, I have been watching Hai Pai Tian Xin (Hi! My Sweetheart) and Zhong Ji San Guo (KO 3anguo) lately, and other Taiwanese shows... haha, these two drama series are really nice and HILARIOUS! Hi all

tmr is the first day of my recess week but i need to go back to school to hand in assignment! >.<" pretty ridiculous right? it's public holiday you know...

sigh..

i am having a terrible time doing my term papers. really horrible. and there are countless projects which are driving me crazy..........................................................................................

sigh. i miss JC life. but i especially miss my primary sch life. met up with some of my primary school teachers the other day at Fuhua primary school teachers' day dinner. I am not from Fuhua, but Pandan and Fuhua merged. And yeah, I am so lucky to be able to go back with siti. haha.

Anyway, this week is super busy for me, i aim to complete at least 80% of two term papers, complete my projects, and prepare for the new media test next monday.

Sigh.

Went out with scandalous today to celebrate dalian's bday. Was pretty reluctant to go but give dalian face lo.. (though he doesnt need me to give him face.. as he has plenty) haha. went to Royal Plaza for High Tea buffet. Not bad, especially loved the sashimi and cakes. Yum. but the cooked food is quite okay la. BUT, we got a function room to ourselves, very shuang. haha. there were 9 of us, shooting, yh, yk, dalian, meiqi, stella, me, yuci and changsheng. den after the buffet, meixin joined us =) and i left after the buffet to go home and rush my stupid assignment which is due on a public holiday.

Yeah, i know im whining~ but the shuttle bus takes damn long to come during weekends and especially on public holiday.. guess i have to do lotsa walking tmr =( PLUS, there is no food stalls open on public holiday (maybe the claypot stall will)...

humph humph. uni life is super hectic for me. tzelin and i have come to a conclusion that we feel this way because our JC life is toooo enjoyable and toooo slack le... haha.

okay la.. go try to type in a few words for my term paperSSSSS le...

the stuff taught at university are quite cheem... especially el1101E.

but some lessons are rather interesting! my favourite lessons are history of chinese literature and chinese music & literature. haha!

anyway, i am trying my best to adapt so far...

oh, and i've joined NUS debate! haha. the people there are superb debaters!!! i think i'll definitely learn alot from them.

went for the first training yesterday and got to know many new friends, many are exchange students =)

alright~ gotta start mugging now.. (yeah.. right)

life has been really good lately..! stress-free yet fulfilling.

haha, am currently tutoring a pleasant primary three girl, and teaching conversational chinese.

teaching for me is really fulfulling and meaningful. am looking forward to my days in nus to acquire more knowledge so that i can teach better.. hee. sounds altruistic right?

helped ry moved into nus pgp residence ytd. i feel like moving in myself too =) will definitely apply in sem 2.. hopefully things go well for me.. hee.

i guess i am really a lucky person. my life could be considered as a smooth-sailing one. though im neither rich nor intelligent, but at least i seem to always have a smooth path ahead of me.

i shall learn to treasure and cherish all i have now, and eventually realise my ultimate dream in life.

wow. has been some time since I've last updated..

Well, lotsa things happened.

Met up with JSS Student Council, JJC 07L02, PPS Class 4A'2000

Went to yukai's 19th Bday chalet

Took up the MOE Teaching Scholarship

and many other happy events.

I am totally enjoying my life now.. so relaxed and stress-free...

I will be going to OBS tomorrow and will return on Friday..

haha.. i know it's been realli long since i last updated.

right, ytd was our anniversary.. haha. =)

just wanna let you guys know that, i am enjoying my life now =)

having a great bf, having a great time working in school, having a whole load of good friends..

i really really appreciate everyone and everything around me...!

spent many of the weekends and weekdays hanging out with scandalous and our last outing was the farewell gathering for dalian and yanhong.. it was really sad to see them going off to army, but it's really time for them to embark on a new chapter in their lives...

yeah, and i've spent time exercising too! i am glad that i picked up roller blading as my IDP in JJ, and i realli love this sport =)

i m sure the happiness i m feeling now would accompany me in the years to come, because i guess, i have realli grown into a 19-year-old. and i believe that there is a need to keep reminding ourselves how fortunate we are to really feel the happiness in our lives.

yup, last night went to watch a fantastic concert with yanhong, yukai and dalian! dunno why dalian managed to get free tix from his sister's friend... really thank him/her! omg... so so so cool. the name of the concert should be e乐大赏庆功派对. haha. omg. the first singer to perform is Derrick 何维健！he sang two songs, very nice =)

den.. i forgot the sequence but Energy sang a slow and a medley of fast songs with dances, omg.. 小刚 is so cute! den we listened to 陈绮真, very nice songs. omg... then all the audience went crazy for 陵峰！！！wah.. he really very cute and shuai~~~ really...!!! JJ sang four songs!!! omg.. very nice.. den stephanie sun only sang one song.　蔡纯佳 and 龚诗佳 each sang two songs each ba.. woohoo!!! den the 押轴 performer is Xiao Zhu, Luo Zhi Xiang!!!! WAH!!!! lols.. den the audience went more crazy than when Ling Feng was onstage~!!! lol... he sang 搞笑 den danced and sang 箇中强手.. wow. =) there are many other singers like olivia ong n shi xinhui etc...

haha. after the concert we went to take train at city hall.. guess who we saw? YAQI and GUOMIN!!! omg.. been so long since i saw her.. so pretty le.

okay.. i gotta go to my grandma's house now........

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YANHONG!!!

woohoo~ back from KL, it is a fun and exciting experience. omg. shooting, yanhong and yukai gave me so much more memories. lol! the whole trip was simply fun! except for the embarassing moments at the customs due to our crazy luggage size. hee. we've bought SO MUCH~ gosh... it was realli an experience i would dream of, and hopefully after the guys get out of NS (which is two years later), we can travel to hongkong, korea and japan! and im realli sure tht that would happen =)

anyway, it's realli late and i realli need to slp, will blog more abt the KL trip tmr~
